Book of Job

Some would say the book of Job is the first so-called Poetical Book of the Bible. Poetry not in the rhyming of sounds but of ideas.

Job's name is a transliteration of the Hebrew word Iyov which means "the hated or persecuted one". Our previous article describes Job as Perfect - "usually pious , gentle and dear" and upright - "straight, pleased well and right". Well, these Hebrew dictionary has truly unlock that sense of possibility in all of us to attain. Job is also one who reverent God, putting Him into the picture of his everyday life. Eschewing evil brings up the definition of leaving undo, remove, depart from thoughts, actions and heart sins. Fulfilling the above with the Lord's hand will also help us earn that commendation and approval from God as Job.

It is interesting to note that the Book places spiritual wealth before any other form of wealth as the priority in one's live, disregarding any elevation brought about from the latter endowment. Also, another observation would be - that all his children are believed to be in the Lord, with Job's daily act of sanctifying them possible before God.

The devil has, what I still believe, free access to heavenly domain today like in the days of Job, vehemently accusing, defaming every possible subjects of God, in hope of plucking more souls onto his accursed fold. And it is also a recurring act where all other angelic subjects do meet regularly to "present themselves" before the Lord.

About the man - Job

Seriously, nothing much was said about who he is, apart from the fact that he's a guy in the East, lives in a land called Uz and he was both materially and spiritually rich.

This does not imply that physical prosperity is a given to all christian, neither does it says its a component for purposeful living. Uz is believed to be in a triangular point between Syria, Jordan and Arabia. Now, the claim by God Himself that Job was perfect, upright was astounding! A perfect God saying that to an imperfect creature. Wait a minute! That means any christian can strive for that badge of honor in his walk too! Hmm...the English language is known for her limitation in use of words and it would be better off looking at the original definition of each of the following word in the right context - perfect and upright.

Job - Pronounced Joe-Op

The Bible is amazing, timeless and instructive but has a depth of a bottomless base. So, if I would to attempt a commentary on each book and passage, this would only incur a ban from blogspot due to the insufficient hard drive space and of their servers and many many me writing it till the Lord returns!

So, it would be a bite-size snippets of certain stories, books, passages which brings about a certain angle and lessons learnt. Hence, what not a better place to start than the first "chronologically written" book of the bible - Job!

Brian and Daisy's Baby!

Congratulation and blessing to our dear Brian and family for their new addition to their family!
